What we do

St Helens Active Lives & Sports Development aims to get 'more people, more active, more often'.  We are committed to helping our communities live healthier and happier lives, through movement, physical activity and sport.

We do this by:

  • Working with local sports clubs and community groups to strengthen community sport, via support with funding applications, coach development, volunteer and participant recruitment
  • Driving system change with local partners and organisations, to tackle inequalities in sport and physical activity and create a joined-up approach that makes movement a part of everyday life
  • Developing approaches that support culture and behaviour change across the life course
  • Delivering inclusive programmes and events shaped by local needs, providing welcoming and accessible opportunities to move more
  • Delivering school sport events as part of the School Games programme, providing opportunities for young people to enjoy sport, build skills and develop confidence
  • Working with national governing bodies of sport to align national programmes with local St Helens needs
