This annual competition is an amazing opportunity for young people in St Helens Borough to showcase their artistic talents through a collective exhibition. Across St Helens Borough, we understand the value of arts and culture, and so we aim to provide all children and young people with as many opportunities as possible to develop, share and celebrate their creative skills.

CulturEd (St Helens Cultural Education Partnership) will be celebrating the creativity of children and young people by hosting an exhibition of their work in July 2026 at St Helens Town Hall. The Youth Open Art competition will take place as part of this project. Schools and community groups will be invited to respond to this year's theme to use as inspiration for creating artwork. The upper age limit for this competition is 19 years old (or 25yrs for SEND categories) to allow entries from Colleges and Further Education hubs as well as schools.

Entries are accepted from a wide range of media including paintings, sculptures, mixed media, photography and more, with the prizes categorised by age groups. Entries this year must be submitted via schools, colleges and other education hubs. To find out more please read the entry form, which can be found here soon.

The competition will be held throughout June and July this year, with an exhibition at the Town Hall from Saturday 4th July - Tuesday 7th July. An Awards Ceremony will be held for prize winners from 6pm at the Town Hall on Tuesday 7th July (full details sent to winners by Friday 26th June).
