Best place to find information and services that your council provides...
This annual competition is an amazing opportunity for young people in St Helens to showcase their artistic talents through a collective exhibition in a professional gallery. In St Helens, we understand the value of arts and culture, and so we aim to provide all children and young people with as many opportunities as possible to develop, share and celebrate their creative skills.
CulturEd (St Helens Local Cultural Education Partnership), The World of Glass, St Helens Council Arts Service, Vinyline Graphics and St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic High School invited all young artists to submit an original artwork for selection for exhibition and to win a prize.
With over 500 submissions and space to exhibit 320, the judges had some tough decisions to make. They agreed that all of the work you see here shows a high level of skill in relation to composition and technique, demonstrating an excellent understanding of materials and processes both in general and considering the age of the artists.
As well as prizes for students in each Key Stage, we also offer a prize for Nursery and Reception-aged artists and Secondary Photography/Graphic Art/Digital Media. Vinyline Graphics kindly sponsor the Graphics category and offer a work placement to the winning artist. During the run of the exhibition, they will also be printing the winner’s artwork and installing it in a window of St Mary’s Market, overlooking The World of Glass.
In addition to these awards, St Augustine’s has sponsored a Student Choice award this year, the winner of which has been selected by our Arts Ambassadors. These students have also curated an exhibition of their chosen artworks from Key Stage 2 and 3 in St Mary’s Market, which will run alongside the main display at The World of Glass until 1 May.
Thank you to all who entered the competition and to this year’s very talented exhibitors for creating such a fantastic exhibition. Congratulations to this year’s prize-winners.
We'll have more details on the 2020 prize-giving soon.
