Support available for those bereaved by suicide

SoBS offers peer-led support for adults bereaved by suicide. They help individuals support each other, at the time of their loss and in the months and years that follow. They aim to provide safe, confidential environments where people can share their experiences and feelings, giving and gaining support from each other.

They offer support in the form of:

  • local and virtual groups

  • phone support

  • email support 

  • an online community forum.

Alfie's squad provides specialist suicide bereavement support for children, young people, and their families. Through peer support groups, they help children feel understood, less alone, and supported after the loss of a loved one to suicide.They host in-person support groups that take place each Thursday between 6pm-8pm in the Baltic Area of Liverpool. They also host an online group every other Tuesday. You can make a referral via their website or contact them at info@alfiessquad.org.

Suicide Bereavement Support for Parents and Carers

 

Child Bereavement UK helps families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. They support children and young people (up to the age of 25) when someone important to them has died or is not expected to live, and parents and the wider family when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying. They offers the following support and guidance ​​​​.

 

The Help is at Hand guide offers compassionate support for anyone bereaved by suicide, explaining that grief is deeply individual and may involve intense emotions. It provides practical advice for seeking peer or professional help. The booklet also signposts resources and services to ensure those affected can access immediate and ongoing support. This guide was mainly written by people bereaved by suicide, to provide more relevant and personal guidance to others.
