Free lifesaving Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm screenings offered at Totally Wicked Stadium

St Helens Borough Council's Public Health team is urging eligible residents to take advantage of free Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screening appointments this summer at the Saints' Totally Wicked Stadium.

Men aged 65 and over are invited to book their one-off NHS AAA check—a simple, painless 10-minute scan that could save lives.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms can be deadly if left untreated. In fact, 82% of men with an untreated AAA tragically lose their lives. This quick scan provides same-day results, offering peace of mind and the opportunity for early intervention if needed.

Councillor Andy Bowden, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health, said:

"This is a potentially life-saving opportunity for men in our community. We're making it easy and accessible by bringing the service right into the heart of St Helens . Please don't put it off - book your scan or encourage loved ones to do the same."

Screenings will be held at the Saints Community Room between 9:30am-4:00pm on:

  • Friday, 27 June

  • Friday, 11 July

While limited walk-in slots will be available on the day, residents are strongly encouraged to book in advance by calling 0151 706 4767.
