Transport Team

We are a team of up to 30 members of staff including supervisors, community drivers, support assistants and passenger assistants. We have a fleet of nine adapted buses that transport up to seven seated clients and two wheelchairs.

What do we do?

We support residents of St Helens Borough by providing transport for vulnerable adults and young people, who have additional support needs and/ or disabilities. 
We also provide statutory transport for students, in conjunction with our colleagues in School Transport.

The service we provide includes taking clients to/ from education provisions, day centres.
As well as undertaking health and community referrals to/ from hospitals and care homes.

Health and community referrals include, but are not exhaustive to, admissions and/or discharges, outpatient and therapy appointments. 

Unfortunately, we do not access requests from members of the public. Only requests from professionals i.e. NHS and/ or Social workers, will be accepted.

When do we work?

  • Monday - Friday, 7.30am - 9pm
  • Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 6pm
  • Bank Holidays, 11am - 5pm (No service Christmas Day)

How do I access your service?

  • For schools, please contact schools transport on 01744 678361. Lines are open 9am to 12pm.
  • For day services, contact can be made via social workers on 01744 676789.
  • For health and community (referrals should be made by the professionals involved). Please contact our office on 01744 676605.

Who are we able to transport?

We can transport people: 

  • People who are independently mobile or use mobility aids
  • People who have their own wheelchairs (both manual and well-controlled electrical)
  • People who are Covid positive clients. Please inform us of this upon booking, so we can manage additional time for cleaning and PPE
  • People who have small, personal, oxygen tanks.
  • A small amount of personal belongings.

We are unable to transport:

  • People who require a stretcher
  • People who are unable to weight bear
  • People who require transfers via stands
  • People who have large, personal, oxygen tanks.
  • A large amount of personal belongings.
