Active Women and Girls

The Active Lives & Sports Development team is committed to supporting women and girls to be more active, more often - through tackling inequalities and driving culture and system change, so everyone has the opportunity to move more.

According to Sport England, only 31.6% of women and girls play sport at least once a week, compared to 41.7% of men.  Nationally, 13 million women said they wanted to play more sport, yet nearly half of these are currently inactive. By working to address inequalities to female participation, we can provide open access to a range of sports and physical activities, helping empower women and girls of all ages to enjoy the long-term wellbeing benefits of an active lifestyle.
