Residents' parking

Contact Centre Opening Times

Monday to Friday 10:30am - 11:30am and 2pm - 4pm

More information about residents' parking permits can be obtained by emailing the Contact Centre or telephoning 01744 676398.

If you live within a council-designated residents-only parking area and keep and use a car, van or motorcycle on a full-time basis, you will normally qualify for a permit.

No charge is made for the provision of permits.

We have introduced visitors' permits and scratchcards.

If you are a home owner and live within a qualifying residents parking area, you will be eligible for a visitor's permit and scratchcards.

Tenants living in private rented accommodation are able to use visitors' permits and scratchcards but must obtain them via their landlord.

Tenants living in Housing Association property can apply directly to us for visitors' permits or scratchcards.

To apply, you will need to call into the reception at Wesley House during our opening hours, or you can telephone us on 01744 676398.

Evidence of ownership of property or Housing Association tenancy will need to be provided on application.

Visitors' permits and scratchcards are usually ready for collection from Wesley House within 48 hours from initial application.

You will need to visit the Contact Centre reception area on the ground floor of Wesley House during our opening hours.

You will be asked to complete a Resident's Parking Application Form.

You will need to bring with you:

  • The form V5 (log book) for the vehicle or valid Motability documentation
  • Your insurance certificate
  • Any additional means of identifying you as living at the address within the residents' parking area. This may be a utility bill, tenancy agreement etc.

If you have only recently moved into your property, the V5 (log book) may still show your previous address. In this case a temporary, one-month permit can be issued, during which time you should obtain an amended form V5 showing your new address from the DVLA. The instructions on the form V5 will tell you how you should do this.

If you have changed your vehicle and need a new permit, you will need to visit the Contact Centre reception area on the ground floor of Wesley House, during our opening hours.

If you have only recently obtained the vehicle, it may be that the V5 (log book) still shows the previous owner or you may not yet have a V5 if the vehicle is new. In this case a temporary, one-month permit can be issued to you.

If you have purchased a new vehicle you should automatically be issued with a form V5 by the DVLA soon after buying the vehicle.

If the vehicle has a previous owner you should obtain an amended form V5 showing your name and address from the DVLA. The instructions on the form V5 will tell you how you should do this.

If you currently have a full resident's parking permit, you will receive a letter inviting you to collect your new permit from the Contact Centre at Wesley House during our opening hours, before your existing permit expires.

If you do not receive this letter, please contact 01744 676398 for further instruction.

It is your responsibility to ensure that vehicles registered at your address are displaying the correct permit.
