St Helens Children's Centres would like to keep engaged with our children and families during this challenging period so will be posting daily activities via our Facebook page. These activities will include crafts, stories and musical sessions. At 4.30pm each day, we will post a list of any resources you may need for the following days session. The sessions will be posted at 1.00pm and we would like to hear feedback and receive any photographs via messenger which we will post on our pages.

Where there are any concerns around failure to thrive, a targeted home visit should be offered to monitor/ review growth. Personal protective equipment (PPE) to be worn (aprons, gloves and masks) in accordance with trust national and local infection control guidance.

Triple P Courses
Courses currently suspended. Next course planned 22.4.20 families will be offered either online or telephone support. Parents can also access Triple P online and opt to complete the parenting programme (this has a cost of £70).

Listening Ear

Weekly appointments will continue to be scheduled as usual. We will offer telephone counselling for all clients aged 11+. For younger clients, we will offer telephone support to parents/ carers/ guardians and will work to build their capacity to support children’s mental health at home. All telephone support will be offered once per week in 50-minute appointments.
We will provide telephone counselling across all therapeutic services and for Amparo, we will offer a mixture of telephone and SMS support.

Level 2 Support Panel
Level 2 panel is currently virtual. Requests will be looked at on an individual basis and the referrer will be contacted by email/telephone by one of the Partnership Co-ordinators to discuss the support needs
Youth Service
Accepting referrals as long as there is staff capacity. Once allocated, youth service will make contact with the parent and start trying to build some conversation with the young person, ready for when they can meet.

St Helens Young Carers Centre
Online service Monday to Friday 10 -3pm. A Young Carer staff member will respond to any questions or queries from Young Carers and their families. To access this facility, go to website www.sthelensyoungcarers.org
Young Carers and their families can still contact us Monday to Friday 10 - 3pm on 01744 677279. Calls will be returned within 24 hours.

Safe Families
Virtual support via phone calls and video calls- to both adults and children, from volunteers.
Regular phone calls/ video calls to families from Family Support Manager
Family Support Manager can issue Foodbank vouchers to families if they need them and post or email them to families.
When other food donations come in, we can ask volunteers to safely drop these off.
If a family is in real crisis then we can assess as to whether we can safely put in face to face support, because if we didn’t then a crisis could escalate. This would be in exceptional circumstances, and if no covid-19 symptoms were present.
TAZ Clinic
TAZ clinic is currently closed. Young people under the age of 18 can “walk in” to our main GUM clinic in St. Helens Hospital for contraception, sexual health screening and treatment. The clinic is currently open at its usual times, but please check the links below for updates. Over 18’s should call the clinic on 01744 646473 to arrange a telephone consultation and to discuss their requirements.
The TAZ Outreach Team are still accepting and screening referrals but we aren’t providing any face to face work with young people at this time. Contact will be via telephone (including text, Facetime, WhatsApp etc., as appropriate). Young people who are currently open to the Team will continue to have contact via the same methods.
