How much is your Council Tax

How much Council Tax you pay will depend on which area of the borough you live in. If you live in one of the parishes you will pay a parish precept, in addition to the St Helens charge and the Fire and Police Precept.

The charge for each area of the borough is shown in the table below.

Council Tax Valuation Bands

Every domestic property has been independently valued by the Listing Officer who is an officer of the Valuation Office Agency which is part of the Inland Revenue.

The valuation is based upon the open market value of the property, or an equivalent, as at 1st April 1991. Once it has been valued it has been placed into one of eight valuation bands. The parameters which have been used are shown below:-
