Pupil Place Planning

St.Helens Council regularly monitors population growth and migration trends to project future demand for pupil places and ensure that there are sufficient school places for local residents. We use a variety of data from Public Health and the Office of National Statistics on birth rates, alongside historic trends of parental preference and pupil migration in and out of the borough, as well as data from Planning on House building.

Each year we evaluate the situation and prepare a strategy on Pupil Place Planning to highlight areas where there may be future pressure on places and how we plan to deliver more pupil places in these areas.

The Pupil Place Strategy Report sets out the plans for how The Council aims to address the challenges ahead. Some of these have already been implemented whilst others are being developed. We must consult prior to approving work to expand a school and details of School Statutory Proposals are provided below.
