Holiday Activities & Food Programme

Summer Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF)

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is aimed at providing healthy food and enriching activities for primary and secondary school aged children who are eligible for benefit related free school meals during the Summer holidays.

In the Summer holidays eligible children can access a variety of sessions at no cost to you. The sessions will include a healthy meal and a variety of exciting activities and sports.

If your child is eligible for benefit related free school meals and would like to attend, please see our list of partners who will be providing the service (each delivery partner can provide full details of their available sessions upon request). Please contact the delivery partner directly to book a place.

The sessions are fully funded by the Department for Education (DfE). Visit the government website for more information on the national programme.

Is my child eligible?

School aged children from any of the following categories are eligible to access the programme:

  • Children in receipt of benefits related free school meals
  • Children in need
  • Child protection
  • Currently looked after school aged children

If your child isn't eligible, there is a range of co-ordinated free and chargeable activities across the borough being delivered by St Helens Borough Children’s Centres, Library and Leisure Services.

Are all the activities and venues COVID-secure?

Yes, all activities and venues have been full risk-assessed and public health measures will be in place.

Staff and volunteers must report a negative coronavirus test prior to the session and families will be contacted before each session taking place.

A lot of the activities are outdoors, but some are indoors. Staff, volunteers and young people are asked to wear face coverings when indoors in a public place. Windows will be opened to increase ventilation. Social distancing will be in place and hand washing facilities/hand sanitiser will be available.

If you have any concerns, please speak to the local provider about what measures they have in place to help keep everyone safe.
