Statement of Community Involvement and How to Get Involved

The council adopted a revised Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) on 20 November 2013. It replaced the SCI adopted in May 2012, and sets out the council’s policy for the involvement of the local community in:

  • the preparation of the Local Development Framework; and
  • the determination of planning applications.

The revisions were necessary due to changes introduced by the Town & Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2012. The 2013 revisions to the SCI:

  • ensure the SCI reflects the correct regulation numbering;
  • introduce the notification arrangements for new permitted development prior notifications for development control procedures;
  • update progress on other documents referred to through the document;
  • reflect changes in corporate consultation strategy and procedures; and
  • update the resources and documents available.

You can download the revised SCI (November 2013) below. Copies of the document are also available at the Regeneration Reception, Ground Floor, Town Hall, St Helens, 9am–5pm on Monday to Friday.
