St Helens Council is preparing a new Local Plan. This Plan will set how much new development for housing, employment and other uses should take place in the borough. It will identify where new development should take place and sets out the policies for assessing planning applications.
A previous consultation exercise took place on the Local Plan Preferred Options document (together with supporting evidence documents) over an eight-week period between 5 December 2016 and 30 January 2017.
The council has now prepared the next stage of the Plan – the ‘Local Plan Submission Draft’. This is the version of the Local Plan it intends to adopt provided it is approved by a Government-appointed Planning Inspector. The deadline for comments to be made on the St Helens Borough Local Plan Submission Draft was 5pm on Monday 13th May 2019.
For further details and to view all the supporting documents, including the Local Plan Submission Draft, the proposed draft Policies Map, the Green Belt Review 2018, the Report of Consultations, the Infrastructure Delivery Plan, the Sustainability Appraisal, and the Habitat Regulations Appraisal, please visit our Local Plan page.
The timetable for the production of the new Local Plan has changed since the process initially commenced. The timetable is set out in the latest Local Development Scheme.
