Emmett commended for flu campaign design

Article date - 26 March 2018

Emmett Jones, aged 4, has been awarded for designing a superhero to fight the flu monsters away.
Flu poster winner

The superhero was designed as part of the St Helens flu campaign ‘Give it your Best Shot’, encouraging parents to vaccinate their children against flu.

To date over 60 per cent of children in reception and school years 1, 2, 3 and 4 and over a third (37 per cent) of 2, 3 and 4 year olds have received their free flu nasal spray.

Passing on her congratulations to Emmett, who attends Kids Planet Nursery in Billinge, Sue Forster, Director of Public Health for St Helens Council said:

“I would just like to say well done to Emmett for designing a brilliant flu superhero.

“This year whilst we have seen a big improvement in the number of school aged children taking up the offer of a free flu nasal spray in school, the number of preschool children vaccinated against flu via their GP remains low. For the next flu season, we would really encourage parents to vaccinate their children, it’s the best protection against flu and not only protects them, but protects those around them.”

The best time to have the flu vaccine is in the autumn, from the beginning of October to early November.
