Health Trainers from the Healthy Living Team and members of the local Stroke Association will be at Morrisons on Baxters Lane in Sutton this Saturday 22 April – national Know Your Blood Pressure Day – between 9:00am and 4:00pm, offering free blood pressure checks and raising awareness of the link between high blood pressure and stroke.

It is estimated that around 18,000 people in St Helens may have high blood pressure and aren’t aware. Known as the ‘silent killer’, high blood pressure can lead to stroke and other health problems such as heart failure, heart attack, chronic kidney disease and dementia.

Help will be given to those who have high blood pressure identified through the check, to manage and lower the condition, through health and lifestyle advice and referral on to other local services.

For more information, contact the Healthy Living Team on 0300 300 0103.

If you can’t make it to Morrisons, call the Healthy Living Team to arrange a free blood pressure and health check at one of the regular clinic sessions taking place across the borough, or drop in at the Smokefree St Helens Hub, Hardshaw Centre, St Helens town centre. Call the hub on 01744 586 247 for more information.
