How to join the library

**Selected St Helens libraries will reopen to the public on Monday 27 July as part of a phased return, with a number of measures in place to keep visitors and staff safe.

Returning and borrowing books and other items will be possible, however, computer access, printing, photocopying, newspapers and magazines will be out of service for a temporary period.

St Helens Archives will also be open from Monday 27 July (bookings must be made in advance of your visit).**

  • Joining the library is easy and membership is free.
  • If you have an email address, you can register for your library membership online.
  • Call in to one of our libraries, complete a form and show one proof of ID containing your name and address.
  • We will give you a library card. If at a later date you change your name, address or phone number, please tell us so we can keep our records up to date.
  • You can borrow books and use the computers right away.
  • You will be able to loan up to 14 items at any one time.
  • Babies and children up to 16 can join the library. A parent or guardian must sign the form before any items can be borrowed.
  • You can choose to download a copy of the library membership form, complete it and take it to your local library.
