Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

The Certificate is aimed at adults who are currently working as a Learning Assistant and are seeking a professional qualification, or adults wishing to gain a recognised qualification in order to gain employment as a Learning Assistant.

The course provides background knowledge needed to begin to work in schools. The Certificate covers a range of topics including:

  • Help improve own and team practice in schools
  • Maintain and support relationships with children and young people
  • Support children and young people's health and safety
  • Support children and young people's positive behaviour
  • Support learning activities

The course will be assessed through the building of a portfolio, completion of assignments and observations within a school enviroment.*

* A placement in school, arranged by the learner, will be required.

The course will run over three terms for one session per week. The cost of the course currently costs £750, which includes the cost of accreditation.

Payments can be made in instalments from August 2017 - February 2018. Learners, who are in receipt of benefits, may be exempt from course fees. 

Please note: If you are interested in this course you will need to either provide GCSE certificates in maths and English, or complete a short assessment to demonstrate that you are able to work at the appropriate level required.
