St Helens Council's Environmental Health section offers the following courses:
FREE Food Allergen Training and information on allergens is available from the Food Standards Agency on their website.
Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Foundation Certificate in Food Safety (six-hour course)
This course is aimed at anyone working in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared cooked and handled.
Typical environments may include: pubs, hotels, restaurants and cafés; supermarkets and retail environments; food and drink manufacturers; hospitals; care homes and schools.
St Helens Council Foundation Food Safety Refresher Training
This course is aimed at food workers who already have the Level 2 Food Safety in Catering qualification but need to refresh their skills and knowledge in food safety.
Food operators who have the Level 2 Awards in Food Safety are recommended to take a refresher course every three years.
St Helens Council Food Safety Awareness Training
This qualification is ideal for those working with pre-wrapped food and drink. It has been developed to raise awareness of key food safety issues and to provide employees with an induction to food hygiene, before undertaking the Level 2 Award in Food Safety.
Other CIEH-accredited courses are available on request and cover topics such as Food Allergens, Healthy Foods and Special Diets, Health and Safety in the Workplace, Risk Assessments, and Environmental Principles and Best Practice.
