Naming ceremonies

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, these ceremonies are unavailable at present.

These ceremonies have no legal significance but are an opportunity to affirm or reaffirm special relationships and for family and friends to come together to celebrate and show support.

Naming ceremonies usually involve guide parents (or supporting adults) and grandparents.

You will be required to produce your child’s birth certificate at the register office. You will then be given more information to allow you to personalise your naming ceremony.

The ceremonies are conducted by trained and experienced celebrants.

Ceremonies can be held at St Helens Town Hall Ceremony Room (Monday to Saturday only) or an approved venue.

When available, there is a non-refundable provisional ceremony booking fee of £40; this fee is changing to £42 from 1 April 2021.
