Ordering copy certificates

Fees from 16 February 2019

Standard Fee: £11 

One certificate either posted out 2nd class postage or collected in person on or before 15 working days.

(Service available between 10.00am and 3.00pm, Monday to Friday - additional postage fees apply)

Priority Fee: £35

One certificate either posted out 1st class postage before the next working day or collected in person.

(Service available between 10.00am and 3.00pm, Monday to Friday) 

*Multiple certificates attract multiple fees as stated above. 

Security of Delivery  

We recommend you purchase secure postage using 1st class, signed-for delivery for any certificate being posted; this is charged at an additional £3 and ensures your certificate is tracked and traced through to delivery. 

Special delivery: £10, weight up to 500g (UK return addresses only - a special signed-for service).

Overseas delivery: various prices.

If you are unsure where an event (birth, marriage or death) took place in England or Wales, you can apply to the General Register Office (GRO). 

The GRO holds copies of all births, marriages and deaths that have taken place in England and Wales.

If you were born in Whiston Hospital, your birth is registered at the Knowsley Register Office. 

If a death occurred in Whiston Hospital, the death is registered at the Knowsley Register Office. 

You will need to apply to Knowsley Register Office for a copy certificate.
