When someone who lives in St Helens has died, just Tell Us Once and let us help you to tell the people who need to know.
The death of a loved one is hard enough and there are lots of things that need to be done at a time when you least feel like doing them.
With St Helens Council's 'Tell Us Once' service, we aim to make some of the legal requirements that bit easier and save you time.
You Tell Us Once and we'll tell all of the relevant services within St Helens Council as well as other government agencies for you.
When someone has died in England or Wales their death needs to be registered within the district it took place, within five days of the date of death.

Currently, even once you've notified the Registrar, you would still have to contact a number of other departments and agencies to provide them with the same information, but with Tell Us Once, we can do that for you.
If you wish to use Tell Us Once with St Helens Council, you will have to make an appointment and visit us in person.

To make it easier for you, you can have your Tell Us Once appointment at the same time as registering the death, or you can book an appointment at another time, convenient to you.
Alternatively, you can contact the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) directly on freephone 0800 085 7308 and an advisor can go through the service with you. Council and government services will be notified in the same way as they would if you visited St Helens Council.

The other agencies we contact on your behalf will use the information primarily to update their records. They may use this information in other ways, but only as the law allows.
Please remember that it is your responsibility to ensure that all organisations that pay you a benefit or credit, or provide you with a service, have correct and up-to-date information about you.
