Publication Scheme

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 requires all Local Authorities to produce a publication scheme detailing all the kinds of information that should be made routinely available.
St.Helens Council is committed to fulfilling this requirement by ensuring that all information regarding its activities is readily available to the public via its website and various other means. This document is the Guide to Information held under St.Helens Council's Publication Scheme.

St.Helens Council has operated a Publication Scheme since 2003. However, in line with guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), an updated scheme has been in effect from 1st January 2009, based on seven recommended categories of information, shown below:
- Who we are and what we do
- What we spend and how we spent it
- What our priorities are and how we are doing
- How we make decisions
- Our policies and procedures
- Lists and Registers
- Services Provided by the Council
