The St.Helens Youth Open Art & Open Art Competitions

St. Helens holds an annual Youth Open Art & Open Art Competition every year.

The competitions are open to anyone who lives, works or studies in St. Helens.

Entry forms for the competition are available to download now and will also be available from Wednesday 27th January 2016 from your school or local library. This competition is open to anyone who lives or studies in St.Helens and is aged up to and including 16 years old.

Submission Dates
Submission dates are Monday 29th February until Friday 4th March at St.Augustine of Canterbury Catholic High School. No late entries will be accepted. The contact details are on the poster above.

Works are welcomed across all mediums, including:

  • Drawing
  • Glass
  • Textiles
  • Sculpture
  • Painting
  • Printmaking
  • Mixed Media
  • Photography
  • Digital Media


Artwork may be submitted into one of the following categories:

• Nursery/Reception

• Key Stage 1

• Key Stage 2

• Key Stage 3

• Key Stage 4

• Secondary Photography/Graphic Art/Digital Media (sponsored by Vinyline Graphics)

Prizes will be awarded in each category and all exhibitors will be presented with a certificate. Winners will be announced on Wednesday 30th March 2016.

Open Art 2016

Forms for the 2016 competition will be available from June 2016.

The competition is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in St. Helens and is aged 16 and over.

  • Photography
  • Sculpture
  • Mixed Media

Art Galleries

The borough's art galleries are based within The World of Glass and include The Godfrey Pilkington Art Gallery, Ground Floor Gallery One and Level One Gallery.

The Godfrey Pilkington Art Gallery is supported by St. Helens Council and The Rainford Trust.

Entrance is FREE to all the galleries.
