St Helens Safeguarding Adults

In St Helens the Council, Health Services and the Police all have a safeguarding duty to protect adults from abuse.  This applies to persons aged 18 years and over who have care and support needs and as a result cannot protect themselves from abuse or neglect.

This includes very elderly people and those with mental illness, brain injury or a learning disability.
